Week 5: Argumentative Essay + 2nd Reflection

This week, we looked at "Revive Courtesy Drive - We need it" article and discussed if there is a need to teach Singaporeans how to be gracious."


Your tasks this week include:

1. 1st Reflection
- Based on the videos/ articles we shared in class, discuss your views/opinion on the concept of graciousness.
- Individual, no less than 100 words

Due: IMMEDIATE


2. 2nd Reflection
- "There is a need to teach Singaporeans how to be gracious." Do you agree?
- Include your introductory paragraph for essay (if you wish, so that I can check for you)
- Individual, no less than 100 words

Due: Sunday, 2 Aug 2009, 5pm


2. Argumentative Essay
- "There is a need to teach Singaporeans how to be gracious." Discuss.
- Individual, 350-500 words, written on foolscap, leave a space after every line

Due: Monday, 3 Aug 2009, 8am (Late submission will be subjected to marks penalty.)

- For those of you who posted intro:
By and large, beginning with the definition of graciousness and background of Singapore are all fine.
Just be mindful that if you state a strong stand right from the beginning, and subsequently attempt to convince your stand, it becomes persuasive rather than discussion. It will become OUT OF POINT.


Use your time wisely; workload will start getting heavier next week.
